On August 5, He Song, Inspector of the Department of West Asia and Africa at the Ministry of Commerce, along with Liang Xiaoguang, a First-Level Researcher, visited Wanbangde Group to learn about the company's investment and cooperation activities in Africa. They were accompanied by Wang Zhiliang, Deputy Researcher at the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Lin Guohua, Party Secretary and Director of the Wenling Municipal Bureau of Commerce. Wanbangde Group Chairman Zhao Shouming warmly welcomed the delegation.

Inspector He Song and his delegation toured the company's exhibition center, where they listened to Chairman Zhao Shouming’s presentation on the group’s core business, the scale and distribution of its various industrial sectors, as well as details about overseas investments, followed by a candid discussion and exchange.

At the meeting, Zheng Duanqin, General Manager of Wanbangde Medical Technology Co., Ltd., briefed Inspector He Song on Wanbangde Group's overall profile, flagship products, key investment activities in South Africa, as well as the achievements made in recent years, the challenges encountered, and the company's future development plans.

In recent years, Wanbangde Group has seized the development opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative, actively aligning itself with markets along the initiative. The group has been vigorously accelerating the strategic introduction of advanced foreign technologies, top-tier research talent, and robust industrial systems—while simultaneously promoting the steady global expansion of its own competitive industries and cutting-edge products. On one front, the company is fully committed to building the Wanbangde China-Africa Medical Technology Industrial Park in China, where it’s bringing in pioneering industrialization technologies for high-end orthopedic implant medical devices. These innovations will be localized and commercialized in Wenling, enabling the production of premium orthopedic solutions that fill critical domestic gaps and ultimately replace costly imported alternatives. This effort is expected to foster the emergence of a distinctive, industry-focused cluster, encompassing specialties such as orthopedic implants, advanced polymer-based medical devices, protective gear, and diagnostic reagents. Meanwhile, the group aims to establish a uniquely Chinese-inspired "South Africa Industrial & Trade Smart Town" in South Africa—a visionary project spanning multiple sectors, including healthcare, light manufacturing and trade hubs, leisure and tourism resorts, and a high-end business district centered around mining activities. The development of this smart town is poised to address pressing local challenges, such as improving healthcare access, boosting employment opportunities, stimulating consumer demand, and enhancing residents' quality of life. Moreover, it will serve as a cornerstone for the sustained, stable, and healthy growth of the group’s diverse business operations. Currently, Wanbangde Group has signed a tripartite strategic cooperation framework agreement with Zhejiang Normal University’s African Studies Institute and the Hangzhou Office of the China-Africa Business Council, laying a solid intellectual foundation for the smart town’s construction. At the same time, the group is actively seeking support and assistance from China’s Ministry of Commerce, the Zhejiang Provincial Government, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful realization of this ambitious project.

After listening to the progress report, Inspector He Song praised Wanbande Group for the achievements it has made in participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. He noted that the group’s strategic goal of "shared development" with Africa is clearly defined, with well-articulated implementation strategies and plans, as well as solid execution across all initiatives. Wanbande has already established relatively comprehensive industrial footprints in both South Africa and China, giving it a distinct advantage in expanding its market presence in Africa and other international regions. At the same time, Inspector He offered constructive guidance on addressing the challenges currently facing the company’s growth. He emphasized the importance of actively facilitating coordination between Wanbande Group and its South African operations, ensuring enhanced support for the company’s development while prioritizing the safety of both investments and personnel operating in Africa. Inspector He also encouraged Wanbande Group to leverage the strategic framework of the Belt and Road Initiative as a catalyst for proactively exploring new international markets. By fostering a dynamic balance between “going out” and “bringing in,” the company can create meaningful synergies that not only drive economic growth in China and Africa but also contribute positively to local social development.
