Campaign Report | Safeguarding Employees' Food Safety: The Wanbangde Logistics Support Team Takes Action
Date:
02 Mar,2021
At noon on March 9, inside the neat and bright employee cafeteria, several staff members—dressed in white lab coats, wearing disposable hats, masks, and gloves—are busily packing 390 work meals. Within 30 minutes, these reassuring boxed lunches will be delivered by dedicated vehicles in batches directly to the Wenling headquarters production site of Wanbangde Group, ensuring they reach the hands of employees returning to work as quickly as possible.
Faced with the severe pandemic situation, ensuring that returning employees can eat safely and with peace of mind has become another critical issue in Wanbande’s epidemic prevention and control efforts. "During this special period of virus containment, employee meals must first prioritize safety, while also paying close attention to taste, portion sizes, and menu variety," explained Pan Huapei, head of the logistics support team. "Since employees started returning to work, our logistics team has remained vigilant about epidemic prevention, strictly enforcing a boxed-meal system. Meals are delivered directly from the cafeteria to the factory premises via dedicated vehicles, following a closed-loop management system that ensures a seamless, two-point journey—cafeteria-to-factory and back. Staff members are assigned specific time slots to collect and distribute meals to each employee’s workstation, guaranteeing that everyone gets hot, delicious, and safe food." He added, "Due to staffing shortages in the company canteen, we’ve even temporarily reassigned nine administrative staff to frontline roles in the cafeteria, helping ensure that every returning employee receives their meal promptly while it’s still warm."
To prevent the spread of the epidemic and avoid mass dining, Wanbande's logistics support team has gone to great lengths to ensure employees have safe and convenient meal options. On one hand, they’ve strengthened internal management in the cafeteria, rigorously controlling three key areas to safeguard food safety: first, strictly managing ingredient procurement to ensure traceability; second, maintaining thorough daily disinfection of critical zones such as cooking areas, rice-steaming stations, washing areas, dishwashing areas, preparation zones, and packaging rooms; and third, assigning specific personnel to oversee every step of food processing—from chopping and cleaning to cooking, portioning, packing, and final sanitization—ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently and in an organized manner. On the other hand, the team has implemented robust systems for meal delivery and distributed dining arrangements. Each department and workshop designates a dedicated contact person who regularly reports the number of employees needing meals to members of the logistics support team. The company then arranges specialized vehicles and staff to deliver boxed lunches directly to workplaces. At the same time, departments and workshops enforce staggered meal times and designate fixed dining areas, effectively preventing overcrowding and ensuring no gatherings occur across teams or units.
Currently, thanks to the joint efforts of the logistics support team and the cafeteria staff, the company has ensured that all employees returning to work are enjoying safe and nutritious meals. However, due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the boxed meal options available offer limited variety and fewer choices—yet the majority of employees have expressed understanding and support in this situation. Meanwhile, cafeteria staff are continuously working to refine the menu, introducing new dishes to better meet employees' nutritional needs.
