Large-volume parenterals, commonly known as "large infusions" (LVP), refer to sterile liquid preparations with a volume of 50 ml or more, administered directly into the body via intravenous drip. Based on their clinical applications, large-volume infusions can be broadly categorized into five types: fluid-balancing solutions, nutritional solutions, blood-volume-expanding infusions, therapeutic drug-infusion products, and dialysis/contrast agents. Since their introduction in clinical practice, infusion product packaging has evolved through three distinct generations. Currently, the primary packaging materials available in China’s infusion market include glass bottles, plastic bottles, non-PVC flexible bags, and upright flexible bags. Among these, non-PVC flexible bag technology stands out as both safe and effective, meeting stringent pharmaceutical and environmental standards—and it is widely recognized as the key direction for future advancements in large-volume infusion packaging technology.
