Indications: Clinically used for patients with chronic persistent hepatitis accompanied by elevated ALT levels, and also effective in cases of ALT elevation caused by chemical toxins or medications.
Pharmacology and Toxicology:
This product is a domestically developed enzyme-lowering drug for the treatment of hepatitis, serving as an intermediate in the synthesis of schisandrin C.
Oral administration of this product at doses of 150–200 mg/kg to mice significantly attenuated liver damage and the elevation of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) induced by carbon tetrachloride. Additionally, it inhibited carbon tetrachloride-induced lipid peroxidation in liver microsomes and suppressed the metabolic conversion of carbon tetrachloride into carbon monoxide. Furthermore, the compound reduced the consumption of reduced coenzyme I and oxygen during carbon tetrachloride metabolism, thereby helping to preserve the structure and function of hepatocyte cell membranes.
This product also helps reduce the increase in liver ALT levels induced by prednisone and promotes liver regeneration in mice undergoing partial hepatectomy. Notably, its enzyme-lowering effect does not directly inhibit serum or liver ALT activity, nor does it accelerate the inactivation of ALT in the bloodstream—instead, it likely reflects a reduction in liver tissue damage. Additionally, this product significantly induces the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes, enhancing the liver's ability to detoxify carbon tetrachloride and certain carcinogens. In patients with hepatitis, it improves protein metabolism, leading to increased albumin levels and reduced globulin levels. However, it does not induce seroconversion for HBsAg or HBeAg, nor does it cause shrinkage of enlarged liver or spleen.
