The award-winning patent in question pertains to SIRT1, an NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase whose primary functions include regulating cellular metabolism, stress responses, and lifespan—key biological processes that are tightly linked to aging and age-related chronic diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders. In recent years, *in vitro* bioactivity evaluation has emerged as a groundbreaking, holistic approach to quality control, gaining increasing attention in the field of Chinese medicine testing. Furthermore, the 2020 "Technical Guidance Principles for Bioeffect Detection Studies of Traditional Chinese Medicines (Trial Implementation by the National Medical Products Administration)" released by the Center for Drug Evaluation under the NMPA has clearly outlined a new direction for leveraging *in vitro* bioeffect detection as a powerful tool in ensuring the quality of Chinese herbal medicines.
Wanbangde Pharmaceutical Group is actively collaborating with the research teams led by Professor Cheng Yuyu and Professor Wang Yi from Zhejiang University's School of Pharmacy to develop an in vitro bioactivity evaluation technology that can be applied to quality control of the company's traditional Chinese medicine products.
