At 3:30 p.m. on April 22, 2013, Wanbang Pharmaceutical held a ceremony at the company’s factory square to donate medicines to the earthquake-hit region of Ya'an, Sichuan. Attending the donation event were Zhang Guorong, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People's Congress; Hu Fuxiang, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference; Chen Xiade, President of the Municipal Charity Federation; Zhao Yunming, Executive Vice President of the Charity Federation; Yan Renfu, Party Secretary of Chengdong Subdistrict; and Jiang Zuowei, Deputy Director of the Municipal Administration for Food and Drug Supervision, among others. The ceremony was hosted by Jiang Sheng, Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.
After the Ya'an disaster struck, Chairman Zhao Shouming immediately drafted a list of medicines to be donated to the earthquake-hit region and reached out to the receiving organizations to coordinate the details. Early on the 22nd, Chairman Zhao Shouming had originally planned to fly from Wenzhou to Wuhan for the National Pharmaceutical Trade Fair. However, after postponing his departure, he rushed straight to the company to convene an urgent meeting with relevant staff to discuss the donation plan. As a result, the donation amount was increased from the initially planned 1 million yuan to 2 million yuan, and Chairman Zhao personally finalized the medicine list, instructing the warehouse team to prepare for immediate shipment. The donated medicines include 555 items in total, such as Cefaclor granules (an antibiotic), Children's Aminophenol Huangnamin granules (pediatric cold remedy), and Ribavirin lozenges (antiviral medication). Upon learning about Wanbang Pharmaceutical’s generous donation of 2 million yuan worth of medicines, the Municipal Charity Federation quickly elevated the matter, promptly reporting the situation to leaders of the Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government, Municipal People’s Congress, Municipal Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and even the Provincial Charity Federation. Leaders at all levels warmly praised Wanbang Pharmaceutical’s noble gesture, noting that this was the first time a local enterprise in our city had provided disaster relief supplies to the affected areas. They decided to hold a formal donation ceremony right at Wanbang Pharmaceutical’s headquarters. During the ceremony, Zhao Yunming, Executive Vice Chairman of the Municipal Charity Federation, delivered a speech on behalf of the organization. He emphasized that Wanbang Pharmaceutical, as a national-level high-tech enterprise, has always adhered to its corporate mission of "Pioneering Innovation, Caring for Life." In recent years, the company has maintained robust economic growth, even making its debut this year among the top ten enterprises in Wenling City. While rapidly expanding, Wanbang has consistently upheld its commitment to corporate social responsibility. This latest donation of medicines marks the first instance of a local business in Wenling providing aid to disaster-stricken regions following the crisis. Wanbang’s selfless support not only demonstrates the company’s deep concern and heartfelt compassion for those in need but also beautifully embodies its profound humanitarian spirit and its dedication to balancing profit with public welfare—values deeply rooted in socialist principles. Wanbang Pharmaceutical’s act of kindness sets a powerful example for businesses across the city. In closing, Chairman Zhao Shouming, speaking on behalf of the Municipal Charity Federation, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Wanbang Pharmaceutical for its extraordinary generosity and unwavering commitment to helping others in times of hardship.
