On August 15–16, the seminar on Wande Pharmaceutical Group’s Academician Expert Workstation—focused on Huperzine A Controlled-Release Tablets and Huperzine A Injection—was successfully held in the 17th-floor conference room at the company headquarters. Guests attending the meeting included Academician Xican Tang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, doctoral supervisor, and researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Haiyan Zhang, also a researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, CAS; Professor Yong Gan, another researcher from the same institute; as well as experts Zhu Chunliu and Gong Qi from the research team, along with Director Laishuan Wang from the National Children’s Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University.
This seminar aims to jointly explore clinical research strategies and related matters for Huperzine A controlled-release tablets, investigate preclinical and clinical considerations for Huperzine A injection in identifying new therapeutic indications, and discuss collaboration opportunities among academician experts.

On the morning of August 15, Academician Tang and his delegation, accompanied by Zhao Shouming, Chairman of the Group, toured the company’s pharmaceutical exhibition hall to gain firsthand insights into its product R&D efforts and key product strategies.
Expert discussions, sparking creative ideas
The seminar began with a welcoming speech by Chairman Zhao Shouming, who warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked Academician Tang and his delegation for their visit. He also expressed his optimism about the promising clinical outcomes expected to result from this seminar. Following this, Li Juan, Director of the Clinical Medicine Department at the pharmaceutical group, along with expert teachers Zhu Chunliu and Gong Qi from the research team, and Director Wang Laishuan from the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, among other specialists, delivered presentations on topics such as the clinical progress of huperzine A controlled-release tablets, exploration of new clinical indications for huperzine A, and non-clinical research initiatives.
In addition, several CRO companies presented updates on the clinical studies, FDA registration, and other aspects related to Huperzine A controlled-release tablets. Meanwhile, the attending experts and scholars engaged in in-depth Q&A sessions and discussions, focusing on topics such as subject population selection and drug safety assessments.

Huperzine A is a next-generation, first-line drug for the protection and treatment of brain injuries. In recent years, Wanbangde Pharmaceutical Group has achieved remarkable success in the research and development of huperzine A APIs and its related formulations, earning a total of 10 invention patents across China, the U.S., Japan, and the European Union. The company’s exclusive huperzine A injection was successfully launched in 2018, while the controlled-release tablets of huperzine A—developed in collaboration with an academician team—are currently advancing through Phase I clinical trials, with Phase II clinical protocols already underway.
