On March 22, 2022, Zhu Jianjun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Wenling Municipal Party Committee, led heads of relevant departments from Wenling City to Wanbangde Group for an on-site working meeting. During the meeting, they listened to a report on the company’s situation and coordinated efforts to address the practical challenges faced by the enterprise.
At the meeting, Zhao Shouming, Chairman of Wanbangde Group, briefed Secretary Zhu on the group’s core businesses, industrial portfolio, development plans, and investment activities across its various sectors. Wanbangde Group’s core businesses span five key industries: aluminum profiles, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, bearings, and investments. In the pharmaceutical sector, the company will continue advancing its product strategy—focused on natural herbal medicines, with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular drugs as the flagship offerings, complemented by respiratory and other therapeutic areas—while accelerating the construction of a new API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) production facility. This initiative aims to leverage the synergy between APIs and finished dosage forms, while also steadily pushing forward R&D efforts toward a nasal spray COVID-19 vaccine in the biopharmaceutical field. Meanwhile, the Wanbangde China-Africa Science and Technology Industrial Park (Medical Devices Industry), a key provincial-level project in Zhejiang Province, represents the group’s commitment to supporting the nation’s “Belt and Road” initiative. By combining cutting-edge Chinese and South African medical technologies, the park is set to become a thriving industrial base fostering mutually beneficial collaboration and sustainable growth between China and Africa. Additionally, the Wanbangde Green Intelligent Manufacturing New Materials Industrial Park (Aluminum Profiles Industry)—a critically important mega-project in Zhejiang Province—has already completed and launched its first-phase production line, capable of annually producing 350,000 tons of aluminum profiles. With the upcoming completion of the second-phase projects, including CTP aluminum plates and aluminum foil for next-generation energy storage batteries, the park will establish a new strategic framework for the materials industry, driven by a diversified model that integrates traditional manufacturing with innovative, green, and renewable energy-focused sectors.
After listening to Chairman Zhao’s report, Secretary Zhu first acknowledged Wanbande’s rapid growth over the past few years, praising the company highly for its remarkable transformation—from a pharmaceutical foundation into diversified businesses spanning medical devices and aluminum manufacturing. Secondly, Secretary Zhu emphasized that corporate development must align with market dynamics, while also noting that the government is shifting its mindset to proactively understand and stay closely attuned to businesses. He highlighted the importance of adopting a multi-pronged approach—focusing on "safeguarding employment, supporting enterprises, maintaining stability, and fostering growth"—to create a positive synergy between government and industry, ultimately providing businesses with an improved environment, tailored policies, and enhanced services. Finally, Secretary Zhu encouraged Wanbande Group to ramp up efforts in expanding production capacity, leveraging its own strengths to drive high-quality development among local SMEs. He expressed confidence that Wanbande will play a leading role as a "vanguard enterprise," helping Wengling move forward toward its ambitious goal of becoming a robust industrial hub worth 200 billion yuan.
In response, Chairman Zhao stated that the company will continue to uphold its corporate mission of "Pioneering Innovation and Caring for Life," striving to refine, strengthen, and expand the business.
